Some days it only takes the smallest gesture to brighten an otherwise lousy day — made especially lousier if you're stuck in rush hour traffic. For the past six months, readers report seeing a man dancing with a giant red heart on the pedestrian bridge crossing Highway 101, which connects the Mission District and Potrero Hill. As one reader tells us, "He warms my heart every time I see him."
Thanks to Twitter, we tracked down the mysterious heart dancer on Instagram, where he goes by x.muse. Based on his posts, we know that he's a Taurus, a 49ers fan, and likely from the city as he hashtags most of his photos with "#SanFranciscoNative."
It's also clear that his rush hour performances — which a reader reports are usually on Wednesday or Thursday between 5:45-6:45 p.m. — carry a message: "Don't give up. Peace be with you! #HeartDance #healing," he writes here.
In the below image, you can see him up-close with his headphones and heart:
On behalf of S.F., we just want to say thank you heart dancer!
