"I'm generally not a street photographer," shooter Jon Rendell writes, "but some images beg to be documented."
"This scene appeared almost staged, yet I happened upon it at noon yesterday on 24th St in San Francisco's Mission District. I had passed the woman an hour before and was struck by the confronting pose of her arm resting against the car tire. I was too shocked to photograph it, but upon my return an hour later she was still in that same position. I only had my phone to capture this painterly scene, but it sufficed."
