The geekfest known as Comic-Con kicks off today in San Diego and — as the Los Angeles Times reports — Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe), Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch), and the casts of shows like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead will be there. But you know who won't be making an appearance? Google Glass.
Fast Company tech editor Harry McCracken tweeted the news yesterday:
Comic-Con is banning Google Glass during screenings: "If your Google Glasses are prescription, please bring a different pair to use..."

Under its official policies, the convention included "Google Glasses" under its list of prohibited devices during panels and screenings, at which Hollywood often reveals big news around movies such as Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice movie and Godzilla 2. It states: "You cannot wear Google Glasses during footage viewing in any program room. If your Google Glasses are prescription, please bring a different pair of glasses to use during these times."
There's nothing that says Google Glass can't be worn in Comic-Con's main convention floor.
Las Vegas casinos were among the first to ban the wearable computer, which can stealthily snap photos and shoot video. On a local level, following that incident at Molotov's, SoMA bar The Willows banned Google Glass as well as a Fillmore district pet store.
Google Glass isn't even available to most of the public yet, but when it is, we have a feeling this trend will continue.
