If you've been wanting to check out more local bands, but not sure where to start, there’s a chill music festival happening this Saturday, July 12, that’s an excellent primer on the local scene. Phono Del Sol features 10 bands — eight of which are local — plus five food trucks, pro skateboarders, and sun-bathing at Potrero Del Sol Park.

The festival’s promoter, local music blog The Bay Bridged, handpicked great performers in a variety of genres. Local favorites Thao & The Get Down Stay Down churn out exuberant folk with infectious melodies; Los Angeles’ Nick Waterhouse croons sexy, retro-soul songs that are GQ approved; San Francisco’s Blackbird Blackbird is the next Washed Out; and Tony Molina is a central figure in the Bay Area music scene, playing Weezer-esque power-pop as a solo artist and brutal hardcore in his band Caged Animal.

Truly, every act on this lineup is worth seeing, so take our recent advice and discover some new music. The Bay Bridged made a playlist of all the festival’s artists, which we’ve included below.

Plus it’s cheap: Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and you can buy them here.
