In a bizarre twist to a tragic tale, Tuesday evening the San Francisco Police Department announced that they've arrested a pair of allegedly homicidal siblings in two seemingly-unrelated slayings from earlier this week. However, even that arrest isn't enough to halt the current wave of homicides striking the city. as yet another man was killed Tuesday night.
As previously reported, at around 3:07 a.m. Monday, 24-year-old San Francisco man Willie Caine Jr. was found dead, the victim of a fatal shooting on the first block of Brookdale Avenue in the Sunnydale neighborhood, police said.
Then, at around 9:30 a.m., police found 30-year-old SF man Keith Zinn suffering from gunshot wounds on first block of Ironwood Way near Jennings Street in Hunters Point.
Zinn was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to SFPD, Caine's death was San Francisco's 17th homicide of the year, and Zinn's was its 18th.
Early Tuesday morning, SFPD spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza says, SFPD's Homicide Detail arrested 22 year old Kenyon Norbert and his brother, 21 year old Kishawn Norbert on Third Street in the Bayview for both of those shootings.
The Norberts were booked at the San Francisco County Jail Tuesday on two counts of murder and probation and parole violations. According to SFPD spokesperson Sergeant Danielle Newman, booking photos of the suspects will not be provided until pending identification matters are resolved.
Supervisor Malia Cohen, whose constituency includes the Bayview and Hunters Point areas, said in a statement that “These arrests are a constructive step forward...We cannot reverse the tragic deaths that resulted from the shootings, but we will hold the individuals responsible for these events accountable and ensure that the families of the victims get the justice they deserve.”
As constructive as those arrests might be, it appears that San Francisco's recent wave of violence is continuing: according to SFPD, on Tuesday night, a man was found shot in the head at La Salle Avenue and Las Villas Court near Hilltop Park in the Bayview at around 11:30 p.m.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. No arrests have been made, and no suspect information was immediately available.
Anyone with information on any of these crimes is urged to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or to text-a-tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
