In the second such incident this week, a water main has broken and is flooding a stretch of Bryant Street Thursday morning.
According to San Francisco Public Utilities Commission spokesperson Amy Sinclair, the break reported to the San Francisco Fire Department at 8:40 on Bryant Street between Division and Alameda streets.
Though the roadway is flooded, it won't be for long: Sinclair says that water department crews are "on scene and have isolated the break and shut off water to the pipeline," she says.
According to Sinclair, the burst pipe is part of the Auxiliary Water Supply System (AWSS) water system.
"The main break occurred on a 16” pipe in the AWSS System during pressure testing. The AWSS System is used for firefighting and emergency needs," Sinclair said. "No impacts are expected on residential or business drinking water customers."
Needless to say, area streets are closed while the repair is being made. According to the SFMTA, service on the 27-Bryant and 9-San Bruno lines has also been disrupted.
