NOW!, the community festival that kicked off Sunday, touts themselves as "a cross between [freespace] and SXSW," except for the Panhandle area. The schedule for the festival, which runs through Saturday, includes events like a community dinner, scavenger hunts, yoga and dance classes, a bike-in movie night, and numerous pop-up parklets. Almost all of the events are free.

Today's NOW! events include a Peace Patrol at 1:30, a two-hour urban wander at 2 PM, a collaborative event to replace Alamo Square's shoe garden at 4, free yoga classes at 4 and 5:30, evening capoeira at 6:30, and my pick: game night.

Tonight's game night event is being held at St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church (2097 Turk Street at Lyon) from 6-9 PM. Organizers say that participants will be able to play "card games, board games, social games, silly games." But keep your act together, Monica, as they say "no board slamming allowed!"
