On Friday evening in the drug-addled peninsula, 18-year-old Daiki Glenn Minaki terrorized a Palo Alto neighborhood in the nude. According to police, Minaki attacked two residents inside their homes and jumped a woman walking her dog before being led away in handcuffs while spitting blood.
Minaki's rampage began just before 9 p.m. on Friday April 4th, when he burst into a home on the 1100 block of Colorado Avenue just west of Highway 101 in Palo Alto. A resident made the 911 call, explaining that a nude man had just entered through the unlocked front door and punched a teenaged resident before taking off on foot.
As he fled the home, Minaki jumped a woman in her fifties who had been walking her dog along Colorado Avenue. According to the woman's later 911 report, she was tackled from behind and the Minaki punched and kicked her while she was on the ground. When the woman yelled for help, another neighbor came outside to investigate, at which point Minaki charged at the second home.
The third victim, a man in his forties, reported that Minaki had burst through his open front door and tried to attack him. The man managed to scare off the raging teen with a swift kick, although the local news accounts unfortunately don't report the placement of said kick.
Police responding to the numerous calls in the neighborhood found Minaki a block away in a cul-de-sac on Otterson Court, sporting a big cut on his face and numerous abrasions on his body. The teen charged at police, who managed to get him in handcuffs. As he was being taken into custody, Minaki spit blood on an officer and was reportedly showing signs that he was hopped up on narcotics.
The female victim was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for cuts and bruises, mostly to her face, head and chin. The two men attacked in their homes were apparently fine. Minaki, meanwhile, was pretty banged up and was also treated for his injuries before police took him to the Santa Clara County Main Jail for booking. He was charged with one count of felony battery for attacking the woman and six other misdemeanors for resisting arrest, attacking officers, trespassing and being under the influence of narcotics.
None of the neighbors knew Minaki and anyone who may have information about his drug-addled rampage or the suspect himself is encouraged to contact Palo Alto Police at 650-329-2413 or anonymous tips can be emailed to [email protected] or text/voice mail message to 650-383-8984.
