According to a spokesperson for the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl Host Committee, Super Bowl L, which will be held at the as-yet-unfinished Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, will be held on February 7, 2016.
The National Football League revealed the official date of this, the 50th Anniversary game, Friday morning. Santa Clara Mayor Jamie Matthews appeared pretty psyched by the announcement, saying that “Around the world, all eyes will be focused on our city and the Bay Area on February 7, 2016, so we are excited to showcase our region’s beauty, culture and innovative spirit.”
Though the game will be played in Santa Clara, what they're calling "the Super Bowl L experience " will also involve a full week of events in San Francisco and elsewhere in the Bay Area. However, details on those events are still morky, as only now, says Keith Bruce, CEO of the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl Host Committee. “our planning begins in earnest.”
