An 91-year-old woman crossing Fillmore Street on Thursday afternoon was struck and killed by a cement truck heading north past California. According to SFPD, the woman was taken to San Francisco General where she received surgery, but later succumbed to her injuries.
The truck driver cooperated with police and was determined not at fault. According to SFGate, "The driver had just crossed through the intersection at California Street when he came to a stop behind a couple of other vehicles...As the other vehicles started moving again, the woman stepped in front of the truck and was hit."
The incident is San Francisco's fourth pedestrian fatality in 2014.
