Vallejo Man Steals U-Haul Truck, Crashes It In Oakland, Calmly Waits For Cops On Loveseat

A 22-year-old man from Vallejo stole a U-Haul truck early Thursday morning and proceeded to drive it down 14th Avenue in Oakland over 90 mph, proving once again that Vallejo is the Florida of the Bay Area.

Oakland police told KRON4 they weren't chasing the suspect, so they're not sure why he was in such a hurry to get away. Somewhere around the intersection with 30th Street, the driver lost control and crashed the truck into four other vehicles before flipping it into a telephone pole.

Police responded to the scene around 5:15 a.m. this morning to find the man calmly sitting on a love seat next to the intersection where he had just totaled four parked cars. The suspect complained he was injured was brought to Highland Hospital, conveniently located across the street.
