Hey, East Coasters: When you're not kvetching about Californians' flightiness and/or general lack of ambition, you're bemoaning the dearth of decent bagels in the Bay Area. (Which totally isn't true, but whatever.) Enough already. Tomorrow, you see, New York City bagels are being FLOWN IN for your transplant chewing pleasure.
Sonya Haines and Wes Rowe join forces on Saturday at Dear Mom to serve bagels direct from NYC. They will be imported overnight express for maximum freshness! Can't beat that. They'll be just like the bagels your, like, bagel baker person used to make in Queens! (Is that even in New York City? Don't answer that. Don't care.)
Details here. Tomorrow's menu as follows:
BAGELS
* Plain
* Everything
SCHMEAR (also known as a SPREAD):
* Plain
* Jalapeno
* Charred Scallion-Garlic
* Olive
OPEN-FACED SANDWICHES
* Schmear / Pastrami / Slow Poached Egg / Bell Pepper-Potato-Caramelized Onion Slaw
* Schmear / Lox / Capers / Red Onion
* Schmear / Crispy Kale / Bell Pepper-Potato-Caramelized Onion Slaw / Roasted Tomatoes / Avocado
Do the right thing (did you catch that brilliant NYC reference?) tomorrow from 11:30am until 3:00pm at Dear Mom (2700 16th Street). And speaking of New York...
