Elderly Pedestrian Struck And Killed On New Year's Eve In Crocker-Amazon

Following the tragic news of the death of 6-year-old Sophia Liu on Tuesday evening in the Tenderloin, a second driver has also been arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter in a separate incident that occurred earlier Tuesday afternoon in San Francisco's Crocker-Amazon neighborhood.

The victim was identified as 86-year-old Zhen Guang Ng. He was struck by a pickup truck near the intersection of Naples and Rolph Streets, just West of the Crocker-Amazon playground. According to SFPD, the driver stayed on the scene and was cooperating with police, but was later arrested.

In addition to the two pedestrian deaths on December 31st, ABC7 reports another pedestrian was involved in a hit-and-run in the Tenderloin on Tuesday. In the third incident, the woman victim suffered several broken bones after being hit near the intersection of Turk and Leavenworth Streets. Witnesses claimed the driver may have run a red light before fleeing the scene. That driver was later arrested on suspicion of a hit-and-run.
