Defenestration, Brian Goggin's longstanding "falling furniture" art installation at Sixth and Howard Streets, may be coming down, but the artist is busy raising another new piece of architectural public art.

On Feb. 23, 12 one-ton pianos fashioned out of glass and rusted steel will be unveiled, bursting from the side of AVA 55 Ninth, a new apartment complex on Ninth Street between Market and Mission. Brian Goggin and partner Dorka Keehn worked on the new installation.

We snapped some photos of the new addition in progress, of which some nearby construction workers seemed extremely proud, shouting "we built that!" from across the street. Well done, gentlemen.
