Ugh. We're not enjoying more of this type of news. The body of missing CCSF student Derrick Shao, 20, has been identified after washing ashore in San Leandro on Friday.
Shao had gone missing eight days earlier, on November 7, after last being seen heading for his bus to school. He left his family's house on the 900 block of Ingerson Avenue in the Bayview as he usually did, going to catch the 29-Sunset. He never arrived at school that day, and his family later reported him missing.
According to his family, Shao had no history of going missing or cutting off contact with loved ones. And he apparently left no indication that anything was the matter.
His cause of death has not yet been determined, and will be figured out by the Alameda County Coroner.
Our sympathies go out to his family.
