Paulo Netto is still missing. But police now have a person of interest, and they're seeking the public's help. Disturbingly, this person used Netto's credit card at the McDonald's at 16th and Mission sometime after Netto's frantic call home to Brazil on October 28, saying he was being followed.

After SFist first picked up this story, a number of commenters noted that drugs may have played a part in this situation. However now that we're over a week into his disappearance it seems unlikely that no one would have heard from him if foul play were not involved.

Netto, a 23-year-old Brazilian who most recently resided in L.A., was here in S.F. looking at art schools and staying in a hostel when he went missing. He checked out of his hostel on the night of Saturday, October 26, with the intention (as we understood it) of getting on a bus back to L.A. on Sunday. He never got on that bus, and he called his sister at 11 p.m. on Monday saying he was being followed and telling her to call police. His panicked sister and mother subsequently flew to San Francisco and involved the media.

The public is being asked to call the SFPD at (415) 553-1071 and reference case number 130921443 if they have any information or if they may have seen Netto, or the person shown in surveillance footage above, in the last week.
