The fire that started at Maverick last week ended up displacing eight adult residents from the above units. It also caused heaps of damage to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"Fire department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said the fire caused an estimated $300,000 in damage to the three-story building destroyed about $100,000 in contents," repots SF Appeal. "There was also about $2,000 in water damage to the upstairs apartments."

On its site, Maverick says they're closed "indefinitely," adding the following message:

"Its super difficult to see something we have cultivated, nurtured, and grown go up in smoke. We will be back better and stronger but it’s going to be a while,” the statement said. “Our hearts go out to the displaced renters upstairs and the best group of employees we have ever known."
