Friday morning in the Mission, a fire ignited at Maverick located at 3316 17th Street. The blaze, which caused severe damage, sparked in an oven inside the restaurant, according to reports.

"It started in the kitchen and then spread,” co-owner Mike Pierce told Mission Local. "Our restaurant is trashed from smoke and water. But nobody got hurt, everyone is fine."

He went on to tell The Chronicle, "We're definitely going to be closed for quite a while." Just yesterday, SFist publicized the restaurant's Mystery Dinner, which, as far as we can tell, will be postponed until further notice. Alas.
