A 22-year-old San Francisco man died after being shot Sunday morning at 16th and Mission. "Police responded to a report of a shooting near 16th and Mission streets about 2:20 a.m.," reports SF Examiner. "Arriving officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the back."

According to Mission Local, at least two arrests were made in a shooting that, though unconfirmed, could have been "over someone defending a girl."

At 1 p.m. Sunday, police officers detained two men outside the northwest entrance of the 16th Street BART station. The two men remained silent as police officers escorted them into the back of a police car. One man wore a hoodie over his head, partially obscuring his face.

Minutes after the two men were detained, a third suspect in handcuffs was led across Mission Street between 16th and 17th streets by two men wearing suits and blue latex gloves. The woman, wearing a blue and white striped zip-up hoodie with her hair in a ponytail, was escorted into the backseat of a silver Taurus.

This most recent shooting death brings the neighborhood's 2013 homicide rate to six. Last week, if you recall, Vincent Jacobo, 56, of San Francisco was arrested on October 14 for the shooting death of 28-year-old San Franciscan Maurice White near the intersection of 21st and Bartlett.
