Niners and bluegrass fans heading out of the city Sunday evening were met with a slow-moving traffic jam on the Bay Bridge thanks to a vegetation fire, possibly sparked by fireworks and dry conditions.

The fire was reported around 7:45 p.m. last night just south of where the west span of the Bay Bridge meets the island. A fire boat had to be called in to douse the flames from the water and the blaze closed one of the lanes on the lower deck, backing up traffic all the way through the city. The offramp for Yerba Buena and Treasure Island was also closed as fire crews attempted to douse the fire.

The AP is reporting that officials in San Francisco received reports that someone may have been setting off fireworks in the area. The fire was under control by 10 p.m.
