Straw Expands To Mid-Market With Proposition Chicken

Straw Expands To Mid-Market With Proposition Chicken

The owners of Straw, the two-year-old carnival-themed restaurant in Hayes Valley, are expanding with a small, quick-service chicken restaurant at 1750 Market near Octavia. It's called Proposition Chicken, and the theme is voting/ballot initiatives.

To place your order, you'll be getting a ballot, and you'll have three primary options: fried, flipped (rotisserie), or faked (tofu). There will also be wings, biscuits, chicken soup, and plenty of condiments, all made in-house.

The space was formerly home to Yum Foods, next door to Rebel, and it's only 400 square feet.

The good news is you won't have to wait long to try it, either. Proposition Chicken should be open within a couple weeks, possibly by October 8.
