Top Chef Masters finalist, James Beard Award-winner, and well loved local chef Traci Des Jardins just won a bid with the Presidio Trust to open a new restaurant in one of the former barracks on Montgomery Street in the Presidio (not to be confused with the downtown street). The name is still up in the air, and as Inside Scoop reports, the restaurant is part of a total overhaul of food service in the Presidio, and will include a catering component, cooking classes, and a retail shop/larder.

Jardins is already the restaurateur behind three successful concepts in town, her flagship
Jardiniere, the ballpark-attached Public House, and two locations of her upscale taqueria, Mijita. She'll be bringing in one of her former chefs de cuisine at Jardiniere, Robbie Lewis, to head up the day-to-day at the new restaurant, which is also a partnership with Bon Appetit Management Co.

The catering component will be the first thing to get off the ground, with a goal of catering the Presidio Trust's own holiday party this year. But there's clearly more details to come, like a projected opening timeframe and a name, for the restaurant.
