Over the weekend, 12 people were shot in Oakland in three separate incidents during the 24-hour period between Friday evening and Saturday night. Three of the victims died.

The first shooting happened around 11 p.m. Friday night. Four men were shot at a birthday party on 105th Avenue near Sobrante Park. Two of the men were killed while the owner of the house was in critical condition as of Sunday evening. According to police, people were hanging out at the party outside the home when a group of people showed up and gunfire broke out. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene and another passed away later at a local hospital early Saturday.

Another man was shot on the street on Saturday during a separate incident near 58th and McCall streets in North Oakland just before 11 a.m. That victim was able to get himself to a hospital. He is in stable condition as of yesterday.

Just a few hours later, around 4 p.m., four more victims were shot outside a hair salon in Uptown Oakland. The victims caught a thief breaking into a car and stealing a woman's purse, the Oakland Tribune reports. The woman's boyfriend saw the suspect and chased him down to get the purse, but the suspect came rode his bike back to the scene, this time packing a weapon. One of the employees of Badd Boyz Hair Salon on Telegraph Avenue recognized the suspect and went to confront him, but the suspect opened fire into the barber shop. Three of the victims work at the shop and one of them was shot four times. According to one of the shop's owners, the men were all out looking for their co-worker when they tried to stop the car burglar. All four victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Later Saturday night, a woman was killed and her boyfriend was injured when someone shot up their car as they drove to a fast food restaurant with the woman's 5-year-old son in the backseat. The couple was stopped at the intersection of 72nd and Lacey Avenues when the suspect walked up to their car and opened fire after exchanging words. The 23-year-old boyfriend managed to drive off before crashing into a pole near a police station. The 39-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her son was handed over to child protective services by Sunday night.
