If there's one thing we love more than weekend-long music festivals in the fog, it's taking one delicious food item and putting it on top of another, preferably fried and starchy, food item. French fries are the perfect protein delivery system whether you're in a group of stoned music fans or just looking to put something on top of all those $8 beers you've been plowing through. Here now, our top five things served on top of fries at this weekend's Outside Lands Festival.

Lamb Poutine from The Whole Beast

The Canadians were on to something when they created Poutine — basically the platonic ideal of drunk people food. Here, the folks from The Whole Beast are bringing back one of our favorites from last year: an all-lamb version with french fries, lamb gravy, lamb "bacon," smoked lamb chunks and sheep's milk cheese. Perfect.

Chimichurri Fries from 4505 Meats

If you can steer yourself away from 4505's "Best Damn Cheeseburger," their version of garlic fries loaded with garlic cream sauce and chili oil will blow away any inferior versions of this S.F. staple food.

Pastrami Cheese Fries from Wise Sons

Here, the celebrated Jewish deli brings us another take on poutine, this time with their homemade pastrami and a Swiss cheese bechamel sauce, garnished with chopped pickles and green onions. Good enough to break kosher for.

Carnita Fries from Brass Knuckle

Brass Knuckle's musically inspired menu makes them a perfect fit for Outside Lands. This weekend they're topping garlic fries with their own carnitas and slathering the whole thing in melted cheese with pico de gallo and jalapenos for that extra kick.

Spicy Belly Fries from Bacon Bacon

The bacon-centric food truck is paring down their menu for the festival, but their spicy belly fries — with pork belly trimmings, "momma's lil' peppers" and a dusting of cheese — prove you can really never have enough pork on top of french fries.
