Not so cute any longer, is it?
The Bay Area's BART strike enters its third day. After BART and its unions failed to reach an agreement Tuesday night after a meeting, we're stuck with yet another stubborn commute. (Since today is a day before a major holiday, traffic isn't as bad. But it still sucks.)
SEI spokeswoman Josie Mooney explained to ABC 7 that "we decided we would make more progress if we get more sleep. We worked very hard together, both parties, along with the very fine mediators who have been assigned by the governor's office."
Bay Area Rapid Transit has offered an 8 percent salary increases over four years, which is double their original offer. The unions, however, countered with 20.1 percent pay raises over three years, down from their initial request of 23.2 percent. The real sufferers here? Those who rely on BART to get to work -- i.e., you.
Should the BART strike enter day 4, expect to find chaotic scenes at the Embarcadero where the annual 4th of July fireworks brouhaha happens.
