Three men were pistol-whipped and assaulted by four other men Sunday evening around 8:10 p.m. at the Embarcadero BART station just as thousands of people were commuting from from Pride events. The motive for the incident remains unclear, but police detained four suspects who were seen fleeing from the scene.

One suspect, who was armed with a handgun, is believed to have pistol-whipped the three men, who were all bloodied and injured multiple times.

The incident led to 30-minute delays in BART service just hours before BART workers' unions announced today's strike.
