Early Tuesday morning, three people were shot when a trio of armed burglars broke into a home on Elmira Street in the Bayview. According to San Francisco Police, the three suspects burst into the home around 2:25 a.m. this morning and opened fire on the family of four.

A female resident of the home was shot during the ensuing shootout, but a male resident reportedly wrestled a weapon from one of the burglars, turned it on him and shot the attacker in the face or upper torso area. The alleged burglar and the woman were both taken to S.F. General to be treated for life-threatening gunshot wounds. The male resident was shot in the leg and taken to the hospital, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Two children who also live in the home were there at the time, but where thankfully uninjured in the gunfire. They were also taken to S.F. General for observation.

The two other robbers fled the scene and had not been found as of Tuesday morning. They are simply described by police as two African-American men in their 20s.
