Infamous naked BART acrobat Yeiner Perez was arrested Monday, less than a week after video footage of his nude routine momentarily captured the Internet's attention. According to the District Attorney's office, Perez was arrested today on two felony charges of false imprisonment and four counts of misdemeanor battery. [Update: Plus one additional count of sexual battery]

Last week, a warrant was issued for his arrest after he was spotted panhandling on the Embarcadero and news broke that he was facing deportation by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement

Although a witness at the scene said they saw Perez chasing a woman and throwing her to the ground while running naked through the station with an erection, District Attorney Gascón's office apparently couldn't make a case for sexual assault. [Note: See update below] As of last week they were still looking for additional witnesses to the incident on May 10th. Perez was initially arrested in the station on suspicion of battery, but was released when BART police failed to bring charges in time.

According to SFWeekly, officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs have been keeping an eye on Perez ever since he got out while they wait to begin his deportation proceedings. The District Attorney finally decided to get involved after the NSFW video thrust the initial story into the national spotlight, setting back San Francisco tourism about 15 years. Perez is due to appear in court Tuesday.

Update, June 18th: A spokesman from the DA's office now says Perez has been charged with one count of sexual battery in addition to the six others. He is currently being held on $100,000 bail and is expected to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon.
