BART Service Crippled By Pine Needles

BART Service Crippled By Pine Needles

Shortly before 11 a.m. Friday morning, a small fire of smoldering pine needles brought BART service to a halt between Daly City and Balboa Park. The piney fire was spotted on track switching equipment between the two stations on the south side of the city.

BART crews extinguished the fire by 11:15 a.m., but as of Noon the agency was still issuing a "major delays" transit advisory and turning some southbound trains around at 24th Street Station. There is currently no estimate for when the poor saps who need to get to SFO or points south via public transit would be able to do so.
