Here's a fun story from the crime blotter, via the Examiner and Nevius: A man who was suspected of breaking into a woman's garage in Ingleside and stealing a television tried to escape police after being spotted by jumping onto the roof of a moving car on Alemany Boulevard. He grabbed a hold of the open sunroof of the car, belonging to a female driver, and shouted "Speed up!"

The woman, smartly, did speed up, and then took an opportunity to slam on the brakes and send the idiot flying into the street, where he was then apprehended.

The man had been pushing a laundry cart up Russia Street containing what appeared to be the first woman's television. She spotted him while walking near her house that morning, just before discovering that her garage door had been pried open, and the SFPD quickly tracked him to a nearby laundromat, at which point he went running onto Alameny Boulevard in search of an escape.

The guy's been identified as 34-year-old James Pace, and he's being held on $250,000 bail for attempted carjacking, kidnapping, criminal threats, and several counts of burglary.
