On Monday, night, a 15-year-old girl was shot in East Oakland. The incident happened at around 5:50 p.m. in the 8700 block of MacArthur Boulevard.

"The girl was confronted by a man with a gun and when she tried to run away, she was shot in the buttocks," reports Oakland Tribune. "The gunman fled and the girl was able to run to nearby Youth Uprising center, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening youth leadership."

Scary stuff. All too common as well.

While the girl was hospitalized, she did not suffer any life-threatening injures. In addition to Oakland police conducting an investigation, Crime Stoppers is offering $5,000 for any information leading up to an arrest and conviction. Anyone with information should call investigators at 510-238-3821.
