Good news for fans of aged wood pulp: the financially strapped Adobe Books will avoid disappearing completely by moving to the Mission's next new hotspot along 24th Street.

After some aggressive rent increases pushed the shop/literary hangout out of its longtime home on 16th Street, Adobe will re-open in June at 3130 24th Street between Shotwell and Folsom Streets. As rents continue to shoot up around Valencia Street's main drag, the continually evolving stretch of lower 24th Street has been experiencing something of a renaissance of late, with a popular Jewish Deli, hip coffee spots and juice bars moving in alongside the panaderias and tamale parlors.

The announcement broke by way of neighbors Will Brown Gallery on Facebook, prompting at least one MissionMission reader to dub the block "Bookstore Alley," which kind of has a nice ring to it, actually.

The reborn Adobe won't officially open until June, but the usual suspects will be on hand to celebrate the second coming at this weekend's Sunday Streets. The official announcement from Adobe:

We’ve got some very exciting news to share. Adobe Books has officially signed a lease for our new home at 3130 24th Street between Folsom and Shotwell! We’re so happy to find a beautiful new space in the Mission District where the new Adobe Books and Arts Cooperative can thrive!

Though we won’t officially be moving until June, to get a head start on getting to know our neighbors, Adobe Books will be participating in this weekend’s Mission Sunday Streets. Please come and support our new store! We’ll be there between 11am - 4pm with a selection of used books, some friendly faces from the coop group, and Andrew with his camera.

In the meantime, no word yet on whether their old home will or will not become San Francisco's first Jack Spade location.
