A body was reportedly found facedown in the water at Ocean Beach this morning at 7:26 a.m., near where Judah Street hits the Great Highway. The gender of the person has not been revealed, and the U.S. Park police are handling the investigation and autopsy. [Update: a GGNRA spokesperson confirmed the body was male.]

Police are also investigating the death of an unidentified woman whose body was found this morning on the beach at Shorebird Park in Emeryville. The body was spotted by a passerby around 7 a.m. in the park, which is next to Chevy's west of Interstate 80.

(The report from the Tribune incorrectly states the location of the park as east of the freeway.)

Authorities won't know the cause of death until an autopsy is completed, and it is unclear whether the body washed ashore from the Bay, or for how long the woman had been dead. The body was clothed.
