On Monday we relayed the story of a missing 31-year-old woman, Erica Maskaleris, who was last seen on surveillance video in workout sweats, appearing like she was heading out for a morning jog on Thursday. She was scheduled on a flight to visit her brother that evening, which she missed, and she didn't contact anyone to cancel the trip. Her cell phone then went dead on Friday, and authorities now say they are investigating the case as a suicide.
As the Tribune is reporting, police will not say what led them to believe Maskaleris went to the Golden Gate Bridge, however someone was reportedly seen jumping from the bridge on Thursday.
No body has yet been recovered.
Maskaleris moved to Oakland seven years ago from Fresno, and started a computer consulting business with her husband in 2009. The husband, Josiah Maskaleris, died of cancer about a year ago.
Friends say Maskaleris had not appeared depressed in the days prior to her death, and there was apparently no suicide note.
