Right now at HP Pavilion, as many as 20,000 officers, officials and civilians have gathered to mourn the deaths of Sgt. Loran "Butch" Baker and Detective Elizabeth Butler. The noted officers were ambushed and shot on February 26, "the first officers killed in the line of duty in the Santa Cruz Police Department's 150-year history."

Baker was a huge Sharks fan, which makes the setting all the more appropriate. Butler, a former UCSC graduate, was known for her excellence in handling sex crimes and interviewing sex crime victims.

The 200-car procession started at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and winded down Highway 17 and to HP Pavilion in Santa Cruz. According to Mercury News, "Gov. Jerry Brown, Former Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta of Carmel Valley and California Attorney General Kamala Harris are among the dignitaries expected to attend the memorial. They will reportedly meet with Baker and Butler's families."

CBS 5 has live video of the memorial now in progress.
