A construction crane that was being used to remove temporary supports under the newly self-supporting, new eastern span of the Bay Bridge toppled this morning. News crews are freaking out over the news, however no injuries have been reported, and there was no damage to the new bridge, because the crane fell on a barge beneath the bridge.
So, basically, nothing to see here, folks, but CBS's Chopper 5 is on the scene nonetheless. As is KCRA.
The accident is not expected to affect the scheduled Labor Day opening of the new span.
