Meteoric quarterback and social media punchline Colin Kaepernick and the rest of the team apparently made it back to the Bay Area in a hurry following Sunday's victory in Atlanta. Kaepernick and long-forgotten starting quarterback Alex Smith were spotted, all Gossip Girl-like, living the high life at San Jose's Motif Lounge nightclub, known for it's $130 Ciroc bottle service on Thursdays. And of course, the TMZ was all over it:

Sources inside the club tell TMZ ... the DJ announced each player as he walked in the door ... and the crowd went absolutely insane.

We're told the guys were pretty tame -- no crazy, insane drunk people. Sources say some of the guys WERE drinking (some bottles of Moet and Cristal were ordered) ... but the night was more of a "sipping and toasting" event ... not a "let's get effed up" kind of a thing.

That may sound tame for a high-profile group of professional football players coming off a huge win, but things apparently got pretty intense when clubgoers converged upon young Kaepernick like the Baltimore Ravens defense on Tom Brady. As he's shown in his late season starts, however, Kaepernick was able to shake the coverage and scramble to a private VIP area upstairs where we assume he thanked God and raised his champagne flute gently to his lips, kissing his biceps in the process.
