Wondering why your NextBus times have been even more unpredictable than usual today? It's not just the scaled back service the disastrous transit agency is running on for the rest of the year. Rather, the Emeryville-based system that powers the arrival predictions on the NextBus site and the in-shelter displays has been on the fritz all morning, mucking up the already miserable post-Christmas Day commute.

According to SFMTA spokesman Paul Rose, the system has been down since about 7 a.m. and some workers at the transit agency fixed predictions for a few lines by manually entering schedules into the computer. (As if Muni buses ever stuck to their schedules anyway.) Anyhow, when will the solution to the NextBus troubles arrive? Sorry, SFMTA has no current predictions:
