17-year-old Montreal Blakely, a player for Concord High School's Minutemen football team, was shot to death in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood Saturday night. Blakely was shot on Osceola Lane around 10 p.m. that evening, near two neighborhood parks and just a few blocks from George Washington Carver Elementary school.

A friend took Blakely to a nearby hospital where he later died from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Contra Costa times reports Blakely had recently transferred to Concord High School after playing for Mt. Diablo the year before. He played both offense and defense for the team, picking up six yards per catch and 86 tackles last season.

The shooting is still under investigation, but the same 1-block street in the Bayview saw another homicide earlier this year when 30-year-old Derek Hall was allegedly shot numerous times by two men back in February.
