Jake' s on Market took over the old 2233 space on Market Street earlier this year. Within 10 months, it closed. Alas. But with one final farewell, the owners called out bad Yelp reviewers who, according to restaurant owners Tim Travelstead and Brad Becker, helped contribute to the restaurant's lack of success. Inside Scoop has the letter, which you really should read for yourself. It starts out nice, and then gets better.

In part, it reads:

And for a small minority of people who rooted for our failure before we ever opened our doors because we weren't the same restaurant that had previously occupied this space, and which we had no connection to, well, we'll never forget you either. Reading your reviews and ratings on Yelp such as, "I hated the color of their T-shirts, I'll never be back. I give them one star!" or being criticized for the taste of food that we have never even served at Jake's, was both amusing and demoralizing, not only to us as owners, but to our co-workers who put all of their efforts into givign each guest a great experience.

Heh.

Anyway, we personally enjoyed the place on a couple of occasions. Big glasses of cheap wine? Call it a red-letter day. But many critics, like this one pulled from the comments on Inside Scoop, weren't so keen on Jake's.

No word yet as to what will take over the space.
