The sixth edition of San Francisco's love-it-or-hate-it-or-just-think-tickets-are-too-expensive annual music festival returns to Golden Gate Park for its biggest edition yet on August 9-11th, 2013.

As he does every year, the festival's cartoon mascot broke the news via Twitter and Instagram this morning:

No word on the lineup yet, as the save-the-date announcement is coming in incredibly early this year, presumably to drum up some more interest and beat Coachella to the punch. Judging by the flood of Instagram hearts though, music fans are already getting "stoked" for the three day festival regardless and at least one person hopes they bring Furthur back. And if you're really excited, you can go ahead and RSVP on Facebook, which guarantees you absolutely nothing.

As we heard last month, organizers plan to grow the event by selling about 10,000 more tickets than previous years, although they've been quick to point out the festival is still smaller than similar events. In 2012, the Rec & Parks Department made a cool $1.7 million in direct revenue from the festival.

Personally, we hope Morrissey joins the lineup and then inevitably cancels when he finds out about the slaughter that goes on at Outside Lambs.
