The San Francisco Giants will gather at Main and Mission shortly to head up Market Street for their second World Series victory parade. An estimated 1 million people will converge upon the city to see the parade. Outside SFist headquarters in SOMA, we can see scores of fans in black and orange (and a few Halloween costumes, of course) are already marching up Third Street to get to the parade. The hour and a half parade, beginning at 11 AM, will culminate with speeches at Civic Center outside City Hall.

Each player will reportedly head up Market in their own convertible car (unlike 2010 where each player had their own cable car). Massive amounts of confetti will pour over the festivities, according to Matier and Ross: "1 1/2 tons of tiny orange, non-color-bleeding, biodegradable, nontoxic, flame-retardant flecks" of confetti will be shot "out of 24 rooftop cannons positioned along the 1.7 -mile route up Market Street."

We should point out that, thankfully, this will be a family-friendly event. So no Mission type fire hipsters will be welcomed. Praise the lord. Mayor Ed Lee told the Chron that "We want families, children, everybody to come" to today's victory parade.

Also? No drinking in public (even though it will probably happen anyway). And, as SF Appeal points out, 'University of California Hastings College of the Law at 200 McAllister St. will be closed Wednesday because of the festivities."
