Just after midnight Monday night, a man was shot and killed near the intersection of 20th Street and South Van Ness in the Mission. The victim, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at nearby hospital earlier this morning. No suspects have been identified or arrested at this point.
The fatal shooting comes after a noticeably violent week in San Francisco — and the Mission District in particular. One man was left dead and another injured in a shooting at 24th and Harrison last Wednesday. That same night, an SFPD officer was shot at nearby at 23rd and Bryant.
Both of those incidents come shortly after two deaths near 16th and Valencia on the other side of the neighborhood. 19-year-old Jose Escobar was shot and killed near the intersection on October 20th and Caesar Chuc died from complications after being critically injured in a 20-person street brawl near the same corner.
