Hurricane Sandy brutalized the East Coast Monday night, resulting in fires, widespread power outages, death, and jarring scenes of flooding in New York City and elsewhere. Though it's still too early to figure out just how much damage the potent storm caused, one thing is for sure: donations would be of great help right now. How and where can you donate? Behold:

Red Cross: President Barack Obama recommends donating to the American Red Cross, and there are many ways to do so. You can make a donation by visiting www.redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767), texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation, or via snail mail to your local Red Cross chapter or the American Red Cross at P.O. Box 37243, Washington, D.C. 20013.

AmeriCares will deliver medicine, first aid kits, cleaning products, flashlights, and more to east coast areas hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. "We are on full alert, connecting with partners throughout the vast area affected by the storm,' said Garrett Ingoglia, AmeriCares vice president of emergency response. "This is a very serious storm, and we are ready to help in any way we can." You can donate here by scrolling to the bottom and hitting the big red "DONATE" button.

Feeding America, the nation's largest domestic hunger relief organization, will provide food, water, and other supplies to those affected by the hurricane. To donate, you can either visit feedingamerica.org or by calling 1-800-910-5524.

If you know of any other ways to help, please let our readers know in the comments. Thank you.
