On November 10th, Red Bull's Flugtag hyper-caffeinated crash festival will return to San Francisco and bring some offseason splashdowns to McCovey Cove in the process. As fans of caffeine, chaos and whimsical flying machines in general, we can't help but get excited about the corporate sponsored event. Today we got a first look at some of the finalists who plan to willingly launch themselves off a 30-foot-high platform into the frigid waters of the Bay.

In addition to the R. Kelly-inspired Arc Kelly and the marijuana-and-Doritos-inspired "Macho Cheese," contestants in the crash fest include a makeshift Pterodactyl created by the folks at Techshop, a goth-looking bed contraption, a flying UC Santa Cruz banana slug, something called "Team Sauce Bacon-ator," and an airborne mustache (of course).

The longest any of these flying contraptions have managed to fly at one of these Flugtag events, by the way, is an impressive 229 feet, or about twice as far as the Wright Brothers made it on their first flight in Kitty Hawk.

San Francisco's Flugtag happens November 10th in McCovey Cove. First flight is at 1 p.m.
