After a woman was repeatedly struck on the head in Chinatown on Saturday, an attack that left her in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, 52-year-old James Bartley has been arrested in connection with the crime. Attacking her for "no apparent reason" that afternoon, he allegedly beat her as she crossed the intersection of Stockton and Sacramento.

According to SF Appeal, "The woman remains hospitalized but was showing signs of improvement today."

Bartley sits in the city clink on suspicion of "aggravated assault, battery causing serious injury, elder abuse and criminal threats."
