Ohmygod you guys, did you hear? The apocalypse is coming to San Francisco in form of the biggest weekend ever (as far anyone can remember). The America's World Cup Series! Fleet Week! The Blue Angels! Hardly Strictly Bluegrass! The Italian Heritage Parade! Castro Street Fair! Giants Playoff Games! But you and I know, the only thing that really matter is the 49ers facing off against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Okay, well that and the Giants' games. Sports!

And since you cannot concentrate at work today due to the incredibly expensive and wasteful (politics!) roaring engines of the Blue Angels flying by every four minutes, I'll distract you with the important things to keep in mind come Sunday.

Let's start with…

The Good

  • Home field advantage. In case you're the betting type, the 49ers are 9-point favorites. I don't love it when we're picked to win by that much, but I mean: we are playing The Bills, so what do you expect?
  • In their 52-28 loss to the Patriots, the Bills allowed 45 points in a span of less than 22 minutes. In their 48-28 loss to the Jets, they gave up 34 points in a span of 20 minutes.
  • The Bills rank 27th in total defense, 28th in run defense, and 29th in points allowed per game.
  • That awful run defense? Perfect. Let's watch Gore do his thing.
  • Bills LT Cordy Glenn and RG Kraig Urbik, both starters, are both out. Bring on the Niners' D.
  • The Niners are healthy (even Brandon Jacobs might be back), confident, and fired up after two weeks on the road and a 34-0 spanking of the Jets.

The Bad

  • The only bad thing I can think of is that there ISN’T anything bad to discuss. There have been murmurs of “Is this another trap game” like the one in Minnesota, but honestly? I don't think so. I think the Niners are going to come out, play hard, play tough, and blow the Bills out. Should be a fun game to watch at the 'Stick.

The Rest of It

  • Will be interesting to see how the 49ers use Kaepernick this week. Obviously, after last week’s game against the Jets, the Bills are forced to prepare for Kaepernick in a way no team has yet this season. My gut tells me that Kaepernick will be a non-factor in Sunday’s game and that forcing teams to prepare for him is just Harbaugh's way of distracting them.
  • Sounds like Randy Moss’ playing time isn't going to increase much, if at all. He's had 80 snaps total this season, ranking 4th amongst our wideouts. Personally, I'd love to see him catch a deep pass for a TD on Sunday, but I’m not sure it's worth it to show teams that (if) he still has it until we really need to.

Niners play at 1:25 p.m. Giants play at 6:37 p.m. The biggest question of the day is: Do I try to do both? I've got the tickets; just not sure I have the stamina. Getting old is brutal.

Watch the 49ers vs. the Bills on Sunday at 1:25 p.m on CBS.
