Didn't get tickets to see Elvis Costello at the big benefit opening for Preservation Hall West? Don't fret, Costello is playing Hardly Strictly and there are cheaper shows already lined up for Valencia's newest music venue. (Pro-tip: La Sera on November 10th.) In the meantime, the latest edition of Nightlife at the California Academy of Sciences combines two things everyone loves: Shark Week and Oktoberfest.

Sharktoberfest, as you might have gathered, brings together some of the brightest local brewers and the ocean's greatest killing machine. In addition to beers from Almanac, Speakeasy, Lagunitas, Anchor Brewing and others, shark experts will be on hand to talk about the deadly sea creatures and Santa Cruz-based artist Todd Williams will have his robotic landsharks roaming around the museum.

Tickets are $12 or $10 for Academy of Sciences Members.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and there's a whole schedule of events lined up.
