Attention musical theater fans, South Park fans and showmos: Book of Mormon tickets are finally, officially going on sale next week, September 21. The American Express cardholder pre-sale is now sold out and over, and the long-awaited touring production of Broadway's biggest hit in years is set to land here November 27 for a five-week run ending just before New Year's.
The details for ticket buyers: You'll need to jump on shnsf.com at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 21, to claim your seats. It will be crazy. If that doesn't work, you can try calling them at 888-746-1799. And if that doesn't work, you might feel sad and left out.
Anyway, with a five-week run we don't think it will sell out in just hours, but who knows. Crazier things have happened.
The production is currently in Los Angeles, and plays through November 25, after which it makes the quick trip north to open in previews here. Meanwhile, the Church of Latter Day Saints has purchased ads in Playbill for the run (which they'll likely do here as well) promoting the Mormon faith whilst the musical relentlessly mocks it. Well, it both mocks and celebrates faith in general, but yeah. It's the South Park guys.
The Broadway production has already grossed $106 million as of August, which is fairly staggering by Broadway standards, and that production will run for a good long time.
