If you're heading to Oakland for Labor Day Weekend -- and why shouldn't you? -- get lit right and good at Hopscotch. One of the East Bay's newest restaurants, it opened in June to good Yelp reviews. (Lofty journo reviews TK!) Hopscotch now also offers a happy hour menu everyday from 3pm-5:30pm featuring $2 beer, $5 select wines, and $2 off any cocktail. Mere pennies, really.

You can also order Chips and Dip (duck fat potato chips, yuzu aioli) $5, Double Down Chicken Wings (spicy green onion sauce, blue cheese dip) $7, a First Base Burger (house ground chuck, griddled beef tongue, pickled onions, sesame aioli, kennebec chips) $12, and more from the Japanese-inspired American bistro menu to sop up the libations.

You can also get oysters on the half shell for $2.50/each. Slurp.

Hopscotch is located at 1915 San Pablo Avenue (at 19th Street), Oakland, 510-788-6217.
